ABOUT ME

Ivana Komel

Born in Novska, Croatia in 1975, I continue to live and work there. My art and childhood imagination grew alongside me, and now art is my life’s constant companion—sometimes even taking the lead. In transferring, creating, and forming ideas into new visual forms, I am guided by my current creative impulses. This process influences my choice of medium and technique, with a primary focus on drawing and painting. My dominant techniques are oil and acrylic on glass. I have exhibited in numerous group exhibitions throughout Croatia.

Since 1993, I have held solo exhibitions in various Croatian cities, including Novska, Sisak, Zagreb, and Dubrovnik. Additionally, I have illustrated several books. One way I bring my ideas to life is through three-dimensional designs, utilizing a variety of industrial materials such as white Portland cement, plaster, iron, wire, and organic materials found in nature. I also design and create jewelry using the Tiffany and combined techniques. Furthermore, I make models for fashion shows, design costumes for plays, and work as a makeup artist and stylist in collaboration with many photographers.
